First time trying Linux as a desktop distro, I’m going to be running Debian. Can’t wait to see how games perform on it.

      Hello fellow Debian user.

I would like to inform you that Debian is a great choice!

If you whole intent is gaming, I recommend getting the Testing discs since Debian (Stable) apps can go outdated pretty quickly.

If you don’t mind older apps and such, then a standard disc should do just fine.

If you need help, feel free to contact me on Matrix! Bye!

      What’s the diffrence?

I game on stable, mostly through Steam, what is it that you upgraded to testing for?

I used to be on testing (Bookworm) until they switched.

I mainly was on testing for newer packages.

          Still rocking bookworm!

I think my first install was in 1995 or so. Moved to simpler rpm systems partly because of alpha and SPARC support. Then moved to Debian again maybe 2001 or so since my workplace servers were mostly Debian and I got used to it.

Glibc and devfs migrations were a pain, but otherwise it’s always been solid.

Edit: dog ate my comment. Or so I thought.
