I hope they really tone down the “horny” this season.
Sexuality was always a topic ever since season 1, sure, but the latest season was a sex joke every minute, incest jokes everywhere, everything was a boob. It was way too much.
The dragon episode in season 5 was by far the worst episode in Rick and Morty, I agree it’s really overdone lately.
Sex jokes can be funny but it’s also an easy crutch, the funniest parts of Rick and Morty were always absurdist and existential, I wish they would go back to that instead of making easy jokes all the time, it feels like the writers have been watching too much family guy…
Rick and Morty’s trajectory is such a bummer. The first couple seasons are just phenomenal. They do this perfect dance down the line of obscene sophomoric humor juxtaposed against real character drama and real life issues. It’s what made the humor work, because they treated serious underlying topics with a vulgar absurdist lens.
But it’s like they forgot that the magic was that balance, and instead assumed that saying fuck and cum and shit a lot is funny on it’s own, which it really isn’t most of the time.

Is this the season without Justin Roiland?
Yep, I think the last sentence was a sneak preview of the new voice. Although, that was explicitly communicated.
Its not, its the exact dialog clipped from the end of season 6.

I’ve liked Season 6 significantly better than everything else after season 2. It’s not nearly as good, but most of the lame BS isn’t there.

Good that “soundalikes” was mentioned as I’m not a fan of the new voice they did for korvo in solar opposites(the other show Roland was fired from ), it just takes me out of of the scene each time with the british accent.
I agree, I couldn’t stand the new voice. I also found myself really noticing when the actor tried their hardest to mimic the ad lib /improve stylings of Roiland. I get its the same character and writers but reusing old ad libs as a way to assimilate the new voice definitely didn’t work for me, if anything it made the major differences stand out in a bad way.
I found myself adapting remarkably quick.
