      “This is the most peaceful time in history!”

      Yeah because the USSR and the Allies squished some of the fascists during the most brutal and widespread war in history, then sat staring at each other with their fingers hovering over the big red button for fifty years. Now the USSR is gone, fascism is once again on the rise, and we’ve seen the first large-scale conventional war between modern armies in a very long time. So toss that “most peaceful time in history” shit in the bin, that era is over and we are full steam in to “man made horrors” and the cool zone.

        Wasn’t most Soviet “foreign” intervention in Warsaw Pact countries or in support of those liberating themselves from colonialist powers?

        Gee that sure sounds unpeaceful to me.

      debate broing a bit here but i didnt mention those cause they were during the cold war and pax americana to me is the period after the cold war, ‘end of history’ and all that.
