A friend and me built up a small but fine community by putting in a lot of effort over several months. However, since the update lemm.ee remains broken. Constant loading errors / error messages and worst, the not working outgoing federation causes our community to slowly die. Is there a way to migrate our community, including our subscribers to another, functional instance?

We had a huge migration today, which unfortunately included some downtime, but should hopefully bring back performance to pre 0.19 levels. The migration is now complete, and initial results seem very promising.

    Sorry for the inconveniece!

No need to apologize. Thank you and everyone else on the lemm.ee team so much for your effort! I was just loosing hope, after the problems remained throughout the holidays until today. However, what matters is that now it seems fixed. Great to see how smooth lemm.ee runs now ヽ༼ຈل͜ຈ༽ノ

The instance has been pretty non-responsive before the maintenance… but holy crap, it’s flying right now.

Before migration: “Could not load data” After migration: BOOOM! Just loads like a beast.

The admin, who also commented in this post posted yesterday that they will be doing an upgrade to fix the issues, and it’s working great now. No need to leave the instance and lemm.ee feels even faster than before it started breaking after the 0.19 upgrade.

It’s what we get for using devel, beta alpha-test level software instead of waiting for Lemmy 1.0 I guess.

Mostly kidding; software version numbers unfortunately have lost meaning thanks to nu-developers. What’s true tho is sometimes I feel lemmy instances are far too eager to upgrade to untested versions instead of actually eg.: designating testing-oriented instances where stuff can be designated to feature-test or stress-test without anyone having to care that the content or even the user accounts is lost.

They did test on Lemmy.ml for some weeks and it seemed fine. Then it was rolled out and issues flagged up. Not smooth or ideal, but these things can happen. Upgrading servers that interact with others in many ways can be rather complex.
