We aren’t going to solve the first three issues anytime soon, so at least people don’t have to try poisoning themselves and letting some poor sod find them and deal with that trauma, or worse, fail and then tie up more of the medical systems resources trying to save them.
If I ever start spewing Facebook conspiracy theories or sovereign citizen crap, sign me up.
This comic is right. Many Canadians are receiving social services, and few are receiving medical assistance in dying.
O man y’all get a wait-list for healthcare I wish we had something like that in the States so people would stop dying in the streets homeless, starving, and untreated!
Oh yeah well I hear in other parts of the world there isn’t even healthcare!
Its also nice that in Canada they let you choose dignity, unlike most of the US where they will slowly kill you and keep you as alive as possible even in great pain if you go to a hospital. Wish I had that as an option when/if I get cancer.
As a person that wants Canadians to have access to social housing, Healthcare including mental and dental, and MAID this comic does highlight my concern.
The answer isn’t making it more difficult for people to get MAID. If I recall directly, the existing criteria are pretty reasonable.
Invest in the other things.
Right, there’s nothing wrong with the concept of MAID as long as people have all the other options available. However, when other services aren’t funded adequately and people can’t get access to them, then MAID inadvertently turns into a coercive measure.
