Do AI chatbots “remember” previous interactions? Like, I know they do in the context of one dialogue. But when people have these “relationships” over weeks or months does the conversation build on everything that’s been said before?

It seems only logical to me that if we have tests for people to earn the right to drive a car, then there should also be a possibility of forfeiting that right again.

I sort of get the gun argument but it’s not airtight in my opinion. Guns too can be used in harmless ways (shooting as a sport) so by the same logic full rehabilitation would include getting a gun license back.

And sure not having a car can be a big disadvantage, but so is having a criminal record, and we don’t stop jailing people because of that. Rehabilitation doesn’t mean that all consequences of your crime are undone.

I agree this is how prison should work. However, in my opinion this is not how driver’s licenses should work. I think it should be possible to forfeit any chance of ever driving again.

Writing this from Linux which I installed last fall in lieu of the Windows 11 update.
I’m still using both OS via dual boot, and I still have some unresolved issues on Linux, but I will fully transition during the course of this year.
One thing that is really mind-blowing is the difference in performance on my ~7 y/o laptop. My Linux Mint is just lightning fast compared to Windows 10. You can quite literally feel how Windows runs a thousand random things in the background (most of which I never asked for) whereas Linux feels very clean and… empty, but in a good way.

One thing that hasn’t been tried is a general strike (and by strike I don’t mean one day off, but a sustained, complete standstill of business without a set end date). That is like the only peaceful means potentially affecting the US oligarchs who finance fascism. And it doesn’t have to be the entire US, for starters it would help if at least some states and/or large cities would take part.

Can you elaborate? Do you mean guerilla warfare?

I think you need more of those black panther type people. The protestors far outnumber ICE in the city. If only half of them carried guns openly, I think ICE would be much more hesitant to go after people like this. They would always have to factor in the risk of someone randomly starting fire, just like US citizens currently have to factor in the risk of law enforcement suddenly shooting them for no reason.

I love Ghibli movies so much because they tell stories very well, they are never black and white, and they always make me feel and ponder things. (And all that with beautiful art and music).
