I see declining birth rates as a good thing. There’s too many humans and we abuse our planet. If we die out, so be it. I personally have refused to have children because I don’t want to subject a child to this. Maybe our population can decline to something more easily sustained in the future with clean energies and healthy foods. But right now with UPFs making us sick, climate change destroying our ecosphere, and general corporate greed and lobbying taking us for every penny we have, I do not think it fair to subject a new child to that.

While not legally binding, the opinion is expected to be cited in climate-related legal cases worldwide.
So… Still just meaningless and toothless posturing then… Got it.

Quad9 is fine. Don’t let that user scare you. Here’s a quote from Quad9’s own privacy policy section regarding data sales:
2.3 Sharing of data
Quad9 does not share, sell, or rent any information that could identify an individual.
We do not share this information because we do not have this information. We do not have this information because we do not need this information. Because we do not need this information, we have built no mechanism to collect, retain, analyze, or distribute it.

Traditionally 2 spaces after the period at the end of a sentence is correct. It is still considered correct to this day, though is the “old” method.
1 space is not the only correct way.

The first EV’s coming into Canada via the new Chinese agreement are definitely not value priced vehicles. The low price tag isn’t a requirement of the agreement for several more years. For now, high priced vehicles like the lotus car with a price tag that contains 6 digits (!) Is what is coming over. Honda could pre-empt that, but for some reason are choosing not to. I will not be purchasing a Chinese EV, and wish I could get one from Honda instead. This just reduces my options.

That seems a bit extreme. A single loss year doesn’t mean immediate collapse. Honda has always been synonymous with reliability and I have no doubt’s that their reputation along with them pausing projects that aren’t likely to give good returns (like the EV plant as much as it sucks), will help them rebound.

Solidifying the policy of dragging us down along with the sinking ship of oil and gas.
Thanks…

He pled guilty, accepted his judgment without argument, and has shown genuine remorse. Is this not the kind of person we want more of here? Yes, he did a horrible thing, but the situation was a result of forces much larger than this one man.

Yes! I hope the best for them!

Thirty per cent of those calls were within five blocks of Prairie Harm Reduction, which offered support services to people living with addictions and operated the city’s only supervised drug consumption site until it closed last month.
So… Mr. Moe, tell me again why we didn’t need those supervised sites? Instead of having dedicated staff on-hand and ready to assist overdoses, we added pressure to an already strained emergency response system? Lovely. Good work there Slow Moe.

Says the weasel who went on Joe Rogan. Those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones PP. You have no right to criticize Carney’s social media posts after that.

I’m daft for knowing that CRA and your bank verify identity by both having your social insurance number and CRA uses the bank to authenticate you because they have trouble with ensuring their own authentication is secure? As evidenced by the account issues they had a few years ago?
Sure. Then call me daft.
Like I said before, if someone can come up with a privatized way to vouch for my age (and only my age) without needing to scan and store my ID, verify my SIN, or AI “assess” my face, then great. As of right now, it doesn’t exist and I don’t trust any age restrictions on web access to not lead to such crap as “just upload a photo of your driver’s license, we pinky promise to delete it…eventually…”
The solution CRA and the banks use only works because they both store your SIN and that is their identifier. CRA just trusts that the bank is better at authentication than they are. It’s DEFINITELY not a privatized login system.

That is Identity Verification. CRA confirms a lot more with your bank than just your age.

Which province are you in? I’ve never heard of such a thing in my province?

I live in Canada, so not sure what the USA has to do with my verification capabilities. (This article is also Canadian, so not sure what the US has to do with anything)
But there still needs to be some mechanism for said discovery. If that mechanism is me being subjected to an AI “facial estimate” or uploading my ID, those are big NO’s for me.
If there is a privatized mechanism used simply for “yes this person is an adult” then fine. But as of right now there is no such privatized mechanism in Canada.

Comparing publicly visible actions to private actions on a personal device that are easily hidden aren’t even close to viable analogies.

LOL!
It has been known for a long time that social media is harmful for kids. If parents wouldn’t parent properly for the good of their children before, then a toothless law (there would be no way to know children are using the sites) won’t make them parent now.
How would sites know there are children using the services? How would the authorities know to issue fines? The only way these things happen is with some form of ID system.
I’ve used saily when I went on a trip to the Dominican Republic for 10 days. I didn’t need a lot of data, just enough for maps outside the resort, etc. But it was crazy affordable, and their customer support was prompt, friendly, and helpful when I needed a bit of assistance with the activation.
All in all, I’d use saily again in the future.
