  • Based on the observation that air defense over central Moscow was increased leading up to the parade I somewhat doubt Ukraine would have been able to put a long range strike drone over the parade. Also with less coverage over other parts of Russia due to the diversions it would probably be better to send them elsewhere anyway. The alternative: risking Ukrainian intelligence assets to sneak in close range FPV drones feels like a waste. Ukraine probably could have got something in it just feels like it wouldn’t be worth it.

The parade permit made Putin look helpless without actually needing to risk anything better used on strategic targets.

  • Part of the issue is because a lot of people aren’t literally in shanties it’s hard for people to recognise that poverty is becoming quite remarkably bad. The poor have electricity and internet now and I think its screwing with our brains. The other major factor here is that a lot of homeless people live in their cars rather than shanties which makes the issue less visible as cars look more expensive than shacks and tents and parked cars are ignorable. The average quality of living for people at the bottom is better than the gilded age but the income and quality of living divide is terrifyingly vast and it’s not improving.

  • There definitely is some amount of expenditure by valve. I don’t know if its 30% worth. For multiplayer games they provide a server/client DDOS protection and traffic optomization service though it is opt in by the developer through an api. The other option for this tends to be a “contact sales” priced product from cloudflare. There is also some of proton’s development, some linux graphics driver work, and workshop support though I suspect hosting and content moderation expenditure there is fairly minimal.
