True enough, altho I do like the way my feet grip on to sandals, something which improves my sense of balance. The flip side is maybe that the bottom of my feet are not exactly beautiful. 😄 (btw, cool # emoji… I’ve never seen those!)

In truth, my disease produces inflammation in my extremities, so my feet typically feel hot. The cold and snow actually feels quite nice… up to a certain point.

Yes, very much so. Really, I’d almost call the original series irrelevant to this one, other than perhaps setting the table for Alix to be in reality a far more adventuresome person than he appears to be as a senator. In fact, I think we can fairly call the grown-up Alix to be the ‘reluctant-adventurer’ type.

Yeah, and maybe that sucks that I can do so, because I don’t believe there’s a ‘privacy of content mode’ here yet, like on Reddit. No doubt coming soon, but still.
Cutting to the chase-- based on why you scaled things down here, may I ask you something?
If so, and based on Rimu insisting that there should be daily vote-capping for yadda-yadda technical reasons (implying that it absolutely has to be X number), what would you have been happy with as a compromise for X? Or was it moreso that you just hated the whole bloody concept and refused to cohabitate under such conditions?

I get the sense that such a combo is far more usual in Europe than over here. Socks & sandals used to be pretty ordinary in the States, maybe up to the 80’s/90’s or so. These days I think only older folks would be seen wearing those, in most urban areas, anyway.
Personally, I wear sandals all year round and love 'em. In cold weather (maybe -10°C), I reluctantly add socks!

1·3 days agoAnd in case anyone of the downvoters were wondering, that’s my own dark-humored prose at work, not an LLM or whatever.
TBH, the whole thing kinda stems from Margot Kidder doing such a fantastic job as a brassy, borderline-annoying-AF Lois Lane in the original films, plus the fact that I lowkey came to hate Marvel-DC comics.

It looks like the series actually was published in English, by ABLAZE! Now checking their site I don’t actually see it, which likely means it’s out of print. So (not sure where you are) you might be able to hit up your LCS (or whatever) and see if there are issues they might stock for a reasonable price.

1·5 days agoOh flog me, it’s embarrassing for me still to be using Windows at this point. Really need to decide upon one of the millions of flavors of Linux to at least create a dual-boot system. 😑
So, circling back to the https://getwacup.com/ page, do you know what’s meant by the “public WACUP preview” download? Is it just a demo or something with limited options, do you know?
I wound up solving the problem myself after a few days. Simply updating my Firefox browser was enough, but whatever they did on their end necessitated that update in the worst way.

Thank you! I seem to be getting better, and honestly the “stroke” term is a bit of a placeholder, not unlike my whole disease, ME/CFS.
My stepdad came to visit me a couple weeks ago, which I was greatly looking forward to based on fun times we’ve had in the past. After planning things out the first day, I went to bed, slept well, and could barely function the rest of the trip. Kept falling down and falling asleep as we tried to do some stuff the next day. Went to the ER the next day, sat around for ~14hrs, and unfortunately, they couldn’t turn up much.
I’ve been trying to adjust some things ever since, like more salt and iodine capsules, and so far so good, but I’ve still been knocked down a whole level. Which is not good when you already have ME/CFS and are mainly bed-bound. But… we all have problems in life. :S

You know, when I think of “enshittification,” I usually think of it in the original sense, which I understand to be the capitalist milking of an idea / enterprise / product in order to extract additional profit, meanwhile cheapening it until it’s eventually little more than a useless, dried out husk. Sort of an Invasion of the Body-Snatchers thing, yeah?
In this case it seems like Rimu specifically explained why the vote-capping update was made and what it was for, which IIRC was to help prevent PF sites from getting bogged down with too much data to track, which can actually impact server performance. I.e., not for profit, but for sustainability. Kind of a reminder that not every step forward in PF development is going to be positive for everyone; some can be annoying.
So again, what kind of vote-cap number would you actually be happy with? As a patron, this is something which I feel I could bring up with him. I feel like it would actually be worth paying for if we could boost that number until it worked for both he and you.
I think I speak for everyone here when I say that we love your contributions, and I personally feel like they add a lot of value to the FV. Plus of course, I’d certainly rather see you contented here than annoyed with the project.
