I hope I can continue to make the smart TV dumb by never giving it network access. When that fails I’ll have to hope the pihole handles some of it. The other fun option might be to put it on a VPN in the EU and hope that it enables some gdpr options.
Either way you’re right, it’s likely inevitable.

It is incredibly rare that a live action depiction of something I love does justice to the source material.
Fallout and Last of Us pulled it off. The original TMNT movies were great (as a kid). I’m sure there are other exceptions, but 95 times out of 100 they seem to suck in my experience.
If they must kill people I don’t understand why they don’t knock people out first. I’ve been under anesthesia for surgery; If they had killed me while under, things would’ve just stayed dark, but I never would have known.
This is a great series. If you haven’t played yet this would probably be worth picking up (well ignoring the overlay implications).
I have no plans to revisit the game so soon, so I’ll pass until the whole game and dlc is $5 in a steam summer sale; years from now.

I used to have a KVM that was this style. There is a physical button on top to switch between the connected devices, and it listens for double scroll lock taps to perform the same action with the keyboard.
I’d be more skeptical installing any drivers this ali express device comes with.

“Action” as a verb is about as vague as you can get. Does that mean an angry Facebook post, contacting representatives, staging an event, or violently overthrowing the government?
I’m guessing it’ll mostly be Facebook posts with a handful of people actually gathering in real life doing something stupid.
So how do I do something to help? I live a few states over and don’t want my representatives getting any ideas.

My Samsung I bought last year required an Internet connection during setup, but after it updated it “allowed” me to disconnect it. Just to be extra safe I connected it to a guest network that I changed the password on so it couldn’t remember the credentials. The menus have ads (that never change), but I set the TV to default to the last HDMI port when it turns on.
I wish they had an AOSP sort of approach to TV where I could install a new ROM and customize the TV OS with whatever changes I’d like, so I didn’t need extra devices to view Plex and my streaming channels. DRM shuts that dream down pretty quickly though.
I hope that some privacy forward brands will emerge, but there just doesn’t seem to be consumer demand or awareness.
