The lemmy.ml admins couldn’t handle someone pointing that any conversation about Palestine should be centered around the Palestinian victims undergoing a literal genocide and not on Judaism, because in the present day Jews are just privileged white people who aren’t facing any systemic oppression but are even systemically privileged.

An instance pretending to give a voice for the the Global South in the end just censors non-Eurocentric opinions to the point of censoring for genocide.

Apparently they didn’t instantly delete the comment after banning me but did so hours afterwards, probably because others agreed with me.

This part of the post pertains a feddit.uk post which I assumed was a crosspost but this was not removed by the lemmy.ml admin and this part can be ignored. Leaving it here for reference

The admins feddit.uk mods also removed a post from my own community because the post cites TheDailyMail and that is not a “reliable source” despite the headline being completely verified including a link to the UK government report itself. Might as well introduce MBFC next.

Here is TheGuardian saying the same thing: Government expected to accept recommendations of review, which found three in five Jewish students had experienced prejudice. And here is an even more extensive debunk of the report found on the “ultra radically left” /s Hasan Piker subreddit

Now that I have your attention, here’s what actual real Palestinians have to say instead of Western people put on a pedestal:

The Antisemitism Nobody Wants to Explain

Every Palestinian who attempts to accurately describe their experience — an experience of stolen homes, imprisoned and tortured family members, and besieged cities — is forced to make a very important decision: Do they name who did it?

If Palestinians acknowledge the Jewishness of the colonial project that announces itself, in its flags, its holidays, its army, and its international institutions, not simply as Jewish, but as the highest form of Jewishness, or dare mention the Magen Davids spray painted onto their homes and carved into their land and skin, or mention that it was an orthodox Rabbi who called for their murders, they are inundated with zionist accusations that they hate Jews and that they are antisemitic — the two made synonymous. Suddenly the conversation shifts away from engagement with their experiences and becomes a sham trial to determine their intent, built on the philosemitic premise that to resent their oppressors would render them an unreliable narrator who either deserved the violence against them or, at the very least, is someone who is not worth protecting. Palestinians know they will be expected to answer for, to apologize for, millennia of anti-Jewish persecution that they had no part in and will be expected to disavow and condemn not just antisemitism, but all of Palestine’s anti-colonial political history.

Knowing this, many anti-zionists, including Palestinians, have engaged in a form of idealistic self-censorship in which they rhetorically center combating antisemitism within their anti-zionism, tie the safety of Jews and Palestinians together, and preemptively assert that Palestinians do not hate Jews and therefore are not antisemitic. Meanwhile, the Jewish zionist state bulldozes more Palestinian homes, destroys more Palestinian cities, and kills more Palestinians.

This essay seeks to directly confront the reality that no one wants to engage with, one that some people either ignore or attempt to sanitize, that others trot out as if it’s proof that zionism is the answer: It is entirely reasonable that Palestinians may hold animosity toward Jews. But this is not antisemitism.

It seems quite obvious that oppressed people would hate their oppressor. In fact, it seems silly to even debate this point. For anyone who has a meaningful understanding of Palestinians’ history or present, the idea that Palestinian hostility toward Jews, including outright hatred, is antisemitism — or that antisemitism everywhere, across history, is the same — is obviously wrong. But beyond being wrong, the question of whether it is antisemitism is totally irrelevant. It is asserted specifically as a tool for the advancement of zionism.

You could have educated yourself by trying to understand what it says and how it related to the post. But that’s too difficult when you’re just here to concern troll.

Israel shoves its Jewishness in the face of Palestinians as part of the genocide, yes. They march in the name of Jewish supremacy. I can’t imagine not feeling resentment towards that on top of the horrific nightmare they’re already subject to.

Sane Jewish folks are already on the side of Palestine and this isn’t a conversation to begin with in most level-headed discussions. It’s understandable to make a quick disclaimer when introducing oneself, but I’ve never personally experienced it go beyond that irl.

I’d chalk it up to terminally online people being terminally online. Doesn’t make it right but hopefully adds some perspective to a stressful situation

I’m convinced Geneva convenience wants to conflate the two and uses the Palestinians as a way of saying “see? Their lived experience and justified hatred means I can be a reactionary”.

Just start posting protocols of the elders of zion, geneva.

Sorry for having the capacity to separate an inalienable quality from a political ideology. I also find it interesting you haven’t denied it.

I haven’t heard you saying you support the dissolution of Israel and full right of Palestinians to the land yet. Can you confirm you’re not a Zionist?

That’s a justified resolution but not very realistic. Obviously full right of return and reparations,. Obviously the government needs to be tried in the hague and the population reeducated. Obviously there needs to be an actual democratic state implemented and not an apartheid. If you’re implying kicking millions out of modern day Israel (shit, new state is named Palestine now too), I think that’s a little far and causing a lot of extra harm for a kind of retribution that would be valid but overall bad.

If that makes me a zionist to you, that’s wild.

Democratic state? Do you get to decide the Palestinians fate? You support the expulsion of all the colonists or not?

Do you think the Algerians had no right to kick out the French colonists either?

Here’s your problem: You keep thinking about the feeling of the colonizing oppressors instead of the colonized and oppressed.

I’m thinking of both, especially the children that were born there and know nothing else.

I’m saying kicking 10 million people out of their homes (albeit mostly stolen), is not ideal. I want solutions, not a revenge fantasy (even if justified).
