One of my co-workers mentioned some video he’s watching and seems to be excited to be moving towards free thought. I was going to suggest some channels to watch on YouTube starting with qualiasoup and Theramintrees to help him learn and absorb critical thought.
Has anybody else got some good videos to watch on critical thinking and free thought? He is not particularly religious, but it seems open to learning not particularly atheist things, but starting with more open-minded videos.
I always recommend Sagan’s baloney detection kit as a primer for critical thinking.

Isn’t a program of instructional videos antithetical to the concept of free thought? ;)
If you are raised thinking non critically, then learning the steps to thinking critically and not taking things at face value is something that might take some instruction. Critical thought is the key to thinking freely.
This is an interesting issue - I worked as a high school teacher for a while and all the “real” teachers were always discussing the idea of critical thinking and how to teach it. It seemed to me the critical thinking lessons were simply the assignments to do something the students did not know HOW to do. The admonition “Well? Figure it OUT!” was the driving command. So in a way, life’s challenges are everyone’s lessons in critical thinking whether they realize or not. To be sure, we can prepare children better or worse for those challenges - in some degree by whether they learn rote facts in school, or spend more time in actual problem-solving and learning to do collaborative activities.
