Lemmyworld can’t defed lemmy without severing its relationship with the developers and that would be absolutely stupid and ridiculous to do. All effort from lemmy official development would go towards promoting something else.

Oh yeah… The problem you have is that liberals don’t want a decentralised internet. They don’t want to challenge the corporations. They hold the ideology that put them in power in the first place.

its hard to imagine the top minds at beehaw and lemmy.world pulling together enough resources and organization to reimplement lemmy from scratch, but I do think it’s a non-zero chance they get it to work. All because they couldn’t hang it in rust and can’t stand dealing with commies

In fact now that I think about it, we should really find a way to encourage good faith liberals to talk with us and discourage smuglord behavior, I actually enjoy debating with liberals when they are arguing in good faith.

One thing to do is post a thread where you invite liberals to talk with you and set as a rule that everyone eschews unnecessary rudeness. It’s gone well in the past, at least the couple of times that I’ve seen it done.
