I’ve noticed my battery hasn’t drained nearly as fast while using Sync compared to other Lemmy apps. Has anyone else had the same experience?

No but it wouldn’t surprise me.

As much as I like the Jerboa and Liftoff apps, the ones I have used other than sync, They’re laggy on my pixel 7 where sync is butter smooth. Means to me they’re likely acting inefficiently somehow.

Yeah, i’m not the only one. It stutters when scrolling or loading into a post. Sync doesn’t do that at all.

I think the issue with Jerboa is that it seems to be constantly fetching new data. It’s loading things as you scroll, but it’s also reloading the current view with every interaction.

yeah, that I’ve seen as well, which seemed to correlate with expanding or failing to load images.
not stuttering but sometimes jumping around unexpectedly.

Definitely less battery intensive compared to Voyager. Makes sense, I would assume a PWA, a new and somewhat unoptimized one at that, uses more juice than a well optimized native app.

The thing is that, I don’t know how but Sync handles the RAM better, so it doesn’t reload as frequently as any other app, which lends to less battery consumption.

Huh, I think you’re right. My battery has been holding up better recently, and that may very well be why.

I was using jeroba and I have noticed a significant change in battery use since switching to sync. I dont have receipts or anything, so take it as you will.

After you deep-throat the Dev and swear financial allegiance for all eternity, it’s important you justify your bad decision to the world without providing any metrics whatsoever whilst comparing it side by side with shitty web apps that constantly auto update for no reason.

Infinity APK is free, already available and as it stands right now, far more feature complete than sync.

These people are the worst byproducts of capitalism gone wrong. They’re actually proud of being dommed.
