A balding man in suspenders reads a news paper while talking to a grey-haired glasses-wearing woman. The newspaper is titled “The Australian”. There is a teapot and mugs on the table they sit at.
The man says to the woman “this bloody paper’s half the size it used to be!!”
The woman responds “of course dear, they used to publish both sides of a story.”

One of the main reasons climate change became such an overlooked issue was because papers would publish ‘both sides’ of a story when one side was utter bullshit. It gave way too much credibility to people who should have had none.
Of course the problem with that is the Right Wing (Liberal) side was (still is) always an outright fucking lie.
