Holy smokes that’s fucking wild. Reading that article sucked. I’m really happy for the indie passion projects that aren’t affected by this industry downturn as much.
AA games needs to come back, all these AAA and “AAAA” games are just ballooning costs and now the bubble has bursted.
I don’t know if that was the core point of the article, but I think that that’s an interesting point too.
I think that there’s a very real place for high-budget games, but in all honesty, the ones that I play the most are not the highest-budget games in my library.
“The game did not have core features that have emerged as requirements to be competitive in today’s hyper aggressive market,” she wrote. “The game was just fundamentally out of touch with emerging player tastes and not aligned with the portfolio strategies of any publishers or investors.”
