Two new reports detail how the world’s nine nuclear-armed countries are spending aggressively to modernize and deploy weapons that pose an existential threat to civilization.
Seriously. Pick a better unit of measurement. I’m not going to multiply it out by 86,400 x 365 to figure out the actual amount.
I can assure you Pakistan is using that money for new mercedes for all army generals, and some 99 cent red paint to pretend they upgraded their nukes.
31,536,000 Seconds in a year x $2,898 = $91,391,328,000.
$91 Billion a year globally on Nukes honestly doesn’t sound like it’s that much. I would have expected more.
There’s already enough nukes on hair triggers to destroy modern civilization several times over.
We don’t need more nukes, so it’s extremely concerning that countries are spending so much money on building more.
It’s important to remember that every single day, the world is about 30 minutes away from nuclear annihilation. And that in about an hour, every major city on the planet could be an irradiated wasteland.
Jokes on them, I crave the abyss
We are the first civilization that knows exactly how it is going to end itself, we just don’t know exactly when.
I wonder how much of this is just the Minuteman replacement.
Any beings stupid enough to eschew spending money on helping their own species in favour of weapons to destroy the planet they live on don’t deserve to survive.
Great use of money. Not like we could spend that on improving the climate.
Well that sounds ominous
