I made an account on lemm.ee, but it seems that no one uses it, even though it’s recommended by join-lemmy.org .
but it seems that no one uses it
No one uses it? It’s a pretty popular instance. Just because it doesn’t have many popular communities doesn’t mean people aren’t using it, we just spend our time on communities on other instances.
I love it. It’s always up and is federated with just about everything.
It does not matter how many people are on your instance. The only things that matter are that your instance hasn’t been defederated from other instances with communities you’d want to participate in, that it is kept up to date and online, and that your instance owner/operators stay on top of moderation. I’ve not heard of any problems along these lines with lemm.ee
Well, user base could have impact chances that instance will be supported for a long time in a good way.
On top of that, in your “all” feed you only see communities which users from your instance subscribe. Smaller instance - emptier this list. This is a discoverability.
I’m not sure I entirely agree. The more popular your instance is, the more content you’re likely to get on /all
No, you get more content on /local, but the same content as any other instance on /all (assuming your instance isn’t defederated from other big instances).
You can ask the admin to run https://github.com/Fmstrat/lcs to subscribe to every community
You have a fair point, but as of now I think being federated with beehaw, lemmy.world and lemmy.ml and a few others is enough to get some good content.
But you only get communities from them in all if someone has already subscribed to each specific one. You don’t get all the communities from the instance automatically.
This is true but every day more communities are subscribed to by someone.
You can ask the admin to run https://github.com/Fmstrat/lcs to subscribe to every community
I’m already subscribed to over 200 communities. If I needed to change instances I could just migrate them over.
Well, at least I have compared c/all from my Lemmy.world account with my lemmy.ee account and I can’t find any noticeable differences, if any here we have beehaw content.
When .world started having issues i made lemm.ee account to get into and now use it almost exclusively. Seems great.
Seems like plenty of people are using it?
It’s great. Way better uptime than lemmy.world or lemmy.ml
When I moved from Lemmy.world lemmy.ee was facing some issues as well, seems to no longer be the case!
Is the server going down a normal occurrence? Good to know I picked a more stable instance.
World had quite a few issues. I think they’ve resolved it though.
And even .ml had some security issues. But the lemm.ee dude had already patched the security hole with a custom build and was helping all the other admins.
I quite like the instance owner’s work and transparency.
It’s great for me. I started there and it’s still good. The admin seems cool too, staying on top of updates and addressing issues that pop up.
Yep and the admin has actually assisted Lemmy.world’s admin to solve their issues before. That fact alone made me settle on lemm.ee - like you’re making a good decision going with this one.
It’s great. I get all of the access to the Fediverse without really any of the connectivity issues I experienced on my lemmy.world account
I haven’t had any issues with the instance being down and that’s one of the most important things.
I use it when lemmy.world is down
Which seems to happen less and less recently
What are you smoking? Please share.
I think join-lemmy.org recommends at random so it doesn’t particularly mean anything. No reason not to use it though as you can view the the lemmyverse from any of them.
I guess I’m no one then
I have an account there and the only downsides are image uploads are limited to 100kb.
I also sometimes have an episode where it doesn’t communicate as quickly with other instances as another instance would. Example: I posted something from my lemm.ee account to a lemmy.world community earlier today and it took several hours to upload there. (When viewing from the .world or SJW instances, my lemm.ee post wasn’t there for several hours). I have had this issue before with different instances but the posts/comments eventually find their way to the right place.
Otherwise, it’s a solid instance with great uptime. Updated with new releases quickly. The owner takes a very active role in maintaining a secure and reliable server. It is federated with a high majority of instances (including beehaw.org) Of all the instances I tried out through the last few months, it is one of my top picks.
They delay to lemmy.world is probably due to the fact that lemmy.world is down most of the time now due to ongoing DDoS attacks
