So I have played elden ring(I haven’t finished the dlc yet),ds1,ds3,ds2. I haven’t finished any of the ds games but I get the gist of those games. I wanted to try sekiro too but I heard it’s pretty different than those games I mentioned. Any tips?

    I’ve not played the other fromsoft games, only Sekiro. But from what I’ve heard - unlearn everything, mainly dodging. Dodging has its place, as does jumping, but for a fair while try to force yourself to only parry. Fight every enemy, learn the how to fight fast and how to fight slow, just parrying and striking. Find the rhythm.

    Anyone I’ve seen saying it’s the hardest fromsoft game generally dodges and moves around a lot, and makes the fights way longer than they need to be. I went in with no fromsoft experience (except a bit of bloodborne from a aaages that I have forgotten) and found it OK. Hard as hell to be fair, but it’s not my usual type of game and it always felt doable with enough practice. So, treat it like it’s own thing and be prepared to learn a new fighting style, and you’ll be fine!

      This is very accurate! DS is all about dodging, Sekiro is all about parrying, and parrying is a lot easier in Sekiro than in DS. There’s like one boss that is an exception, >!Deamon of Hatred!<, but for everyone else, you just need to realize that you can parry just about everything.

      Sword? Parry. Punch? Parry. Rock thrown at your face? Believe it or not, parry.

      Stepping on spears and jumping on heads is equally important to parrying, though those are more situational whereas parrying is ubiquitous.

          The thing is, both c/Sekiro as well as c/Bloodborne are super small communities compared to the rest of Lemmy. If I don’t post anything, nobody else does. I’d rather a bot repost reddit posts as to have any sort of engagement in the form of upvotes and occasional comments instead of no engagement at all. If there is enough of a steady stream of posts by community members, I can switch off the bot and let the community do its own thing. Until then, I don’t see any other way.

          Furthermore, I imagine there are a lot of people reading these posts who have not played the games as much as we have. Every bit of value you can generate by commenting with tips and advice is here to stay and will surely help out people here and there. After all, we want to have a sustainable alternative to the other website’s community.
