That picture of the warbler from the 14 year old is nuts. I thought he must have wanted to take a shot of the trees and this happened by chance. But i have seen that he has already won some photo competition in 2020 (when he was ten!?) with a shot of a bird. How can you plan this? The position of the warbler in the patch of sky. He must have been super close too, or used a remote trigger.

Do you mean the nuthatch? If so, I’ve observed that they favour certain trees, and with patience you will possibly get lucky. I don’t have that level of patience - one day, perhaps! But even then, as you say, to get the leaves framing the sky round the bird…

I’m no judge, but I feel like the other photos are a better display of skill, luck, timing, etc.
Yes, the first one is a sad statement, rather than technically great art.
