Oscars and Grammys are so behind the times, just advertisers of the pop sectors of their respective industries.
Theyve won for their rendition of metaknight’s revenge (kirby) previously. Cool band, love that video game music is becoming a new standard jazz library. Many people who grew up with and love video game music are now professional jazz musicians.
Also, just with Mario alone Nintendo has long had a heavy jazz influence.
Yea i dug up the old mario and zelda big band album (from around 2000 i think) some time ago, its prerty dope
