Fox has set its midseason premiere dates and is moving ‘The Floor’ into the post-Super Bowl spot, replacing first-year drama 'Rescue: Hi-Surf.
I remember waiting for football games to end on Fox so I could watch Futurama. “Whenever the game is finished” is not a good time slot.
Generally that’s correct, but specifically the slot after the Super Bowl is seen as a prime time because it has the largest lead-in show of the year. Most of the time the networks use it to show off a program they feel is strong and want to get to a wider audience than might otherwise tune in. I think Fox was pretty successful doing that with The Masked Singer a few years ago.
I’ve been enjoying that as a game show. Probably a pretty cost-effective production for the network, too.
It’s a great concept that allows for lots of players and narratives to be created. It’s also easy and fun to play along with, which is a big factor.
