Obviously I understand the trash can icon, but I didn’t delete my own comment so is that telling me the mods or the original poster deleted my comment? Does the symbol on the right mean they blocked me?
I tried finding info anywhere in the sync app and looked for Lemmy FAQ pages but none of them had anything on the symbols anywhere.
The first symbol means that’s you.
The second means it was deleted, if you didn’t do it then a mod or admin did.
The last symbol means that person is banned in that community.
Thank you for the info. Are there any other symbols or site quirks I should know about?
Those symbols are from Sync, which is what I use.
Ah. I guess that makes sense. I only ever go on social media from my phone so I will only be viewing Lemmy through the lens of Sync I guess. Thanks for the info.
Not too sure what the icons mean tbh. Just looking at your profile, it looks like you were banned from [email protected] and your comment on this post was removed by the moderator. According to their modlog it’s because of Rule 1 and will last 30 days.
Rule 1 for Lemmy overall or that specific sub? Cause I don’t see any rules listed under the “about” tab. I didn’t break rule 1 as its written as far as I can tell. So that just feels like mod abuse because they didn’t like what I said or something.
I also didn’t get any sort of notification for this temporary ban. Is that intentional? It was simply giving me “network errors” whenever I tried to upvote something and the feedback for the user was very unclear.
I know I’m asking a lot of questions but can anyone see the ban logs for everything? I am obviously very new and still trying to figure out how this whole shindig works.
Edit: Thank you for the info. It was very thorough and you didn’t have to do all those links and everything. But it was very appreciated.
I believe it’s just for that sub or instance (not sure), but you can still access the rest of lemmy. Honestly considering the instance, it’s a blessing in disguise
Lemmy does not send any notifications for moderator actions.
If that’s intentional that seems like a bad idea. Just gonna lead to confusion on the users end and more posts asking why things are “broken”.
I don’t know if it’s just my server / app combo. Since I’ve been starting out here, certain things are hard to tell if they’re network issues or software issues, so I apologise if I’m wrong. But I’m starting to lose count of threads that I’ve visited that apparently have x amount of comments but absolutely nothing when I actually open the thread. Real Reddit moderator shit. Surprised they haven’t locked it and given no reason whatsoever. I think I need to start taking notice of the instances that this happens with, to see if there’s repeat offenders because there’s zero reason to even try participate when they’re running things like this.
I too was interested in knowing the meaning of these symbols. But apparently this platform kinda sucks.
I don’t know about all that. It definitely seems like it’s even more of a far left echo chamber than reddit is.
The mod power/abuse seems to be just about the same.
I’ll keep poking around and see what the site has to offer.
Change instance, my dude.
Hey I’m new here. What do you mean by change instance? Like I see the different subs/communities or what y’all call em, but I’ve just been scrolling through the “everything” tab or whatever it’s called.
I followed some of my interests but generally I just sort by top in the past hour and scroll away.
