I’m having this same issue with comments not coming through to lemm.ee. Compare https://lemm.ee/post/544163 with https://beehaw.org/post/902307

On lemm.ee the post has only 2 comments, while on beehaw it has 10. The reply to my comment is visible on beehaw but not lemm.ee and I didn’t get any notifications about it.

The comments are 5 days old so it doesn’t seem likely to be a slow sync issue. Sorry I don’t have any technical knowhow to fix this issue but hopefully these example links help.

Hey, there were some issues with federation before 0.18.1, but I am seeing a great improvement now that servers are gradually upgrading. You can always force a sync for older posts and comments by searching directly for the original url of that post or comment on lemm.ee.

Thanks for the reply! Good to know the new version should be solving it and that trick to force a sync. Thanks for running this great instance!

Hey! I believe there must have been some connection issue when that comment was being sent out. I have searched for the comment URL (https://opencoaster.net/@RagingWolfBob/110645118273581059) in our lemm.ee search page, and that triggered a sync, so it’s visible now.

In general 0.18.1 has improved federation reliability a lot, so issues like this will hopefully become less common as time goes by.

Awesome, thanks for the update. FWIW, it does seem like the federation to mastodon still needs some help. I mainly just play around with it out of curiosity so it’s not a huge bearing on me but I notice that even as I follow the community on my Mastodon account I probably only see about half of the posts/comments. This could be some intentional automatic selection of posts that I’m unaware of and it could just be the instance that I’m on as well. Not at all concerned about it, just wanted to mention it.

As always, thanks for everything you do!
