The next time I see someone with a swastika on their neck and a Nazi salute here in America am I supposed to assume it’s a peace loving Buddhist with an interest in Roman history?

No, but if you see it from a person or that ethnicity and religious background, you shouldn’t assume it’s an ode to Hitler.
