Remember, too, that it is super easy to block an individual user on your own end.
It’s not the best solution to get rid of spam, but it works wonders all the same.
Report a spammer once, for the good of the community, and then block the ‘user’. Problem solved. :)
Problem solved. :)
Not really.
There has been zero moderation here. The mod log is empty. (again, not an attack as there are no mods)
So the report currently is not seen by anyone.
Blocking is a game of whack-a-mole, I have been blocking several accounts a day. Next day, same spam links on new accounts.
Anyone coming to the mag for the first time will see an endless wall of spam and not bother again. So it is hostile to new users.
Does automod exist on the fediverse yet? Because the recent spam bomb could’ve easily been prevented with a few simple automated rules.
Mod tools are unfortunately far from adequate. I’ve been able to ban those spam accounts and purge them for lemdro.id users but it’ll need some manual work kbin side to deal with them there.
Cheers for that. I know we are still in the baby steps phase here and the effort is appreciated.

Not that I know of, then again, I don’t know much about the backend of the fediverse.
If it’s only to act as spam filter I could do it until a better mod is found
If you are willing to, firstly thanks, maybe contact ernest direct to see it he is ok with it.

this is pretty much the response I got too in a private message
Thanks for passing this on.
@ernest, I am volunteering to help moderate the science magazine to free it from spam.
Fuck no I don’t but yeah it is pretty terrible seeing this shit littered across the site.
