Given how close Connor is to ironmouse and how much worse her life is going to get in a few months thanks to politics… You’d think he’d show an interest.
What’s going on with Ironmouse?
She’s a Latina in a neglected American territory that requires a clean room and constant medical care to live; Trump was elected, and his party hates Hispanics, the disabled, and American territories. The last time he was in office he specifically slow rolled hurricane relief to Puerto Rico causing more causalities than necessary. While mouse wasn’t affected much at the time, it’s likely she will be the next time the island is hit.
On top of this many of the nonprofits doing research on her condition require state funding to operate as well as the generous donations from her and Connors community; that funding has been stopped. While a ridiculous number of rich people watch mouse and Connor, they alone can’t replace the funding those nonprofits get from the state.
It’s highly likely mouse will need to emigrate to survive, which is nearly impossible with her specific condition.
Oh my I didn’t even know she had a condition TBH (I don’t follow her closely). Which nonprofits is she relying on? Has CDawgVA been calling for them to be refunded?
Ironmouse has civd, common immune variable? deficiency, an aggressive immune deficiency disease which basically makes her bed bound and extremely susceptible to any illness. It’s why her voice sounds like that. The main non profit both her and Connor regularly hold fundraisers for is the immune deficiency foundation or IDF (the good IDF); which researches various immune deficiency diseases, sends advocates to hospitals all over the world to inform doctors they’re even a thing and how to test for them, and also works to put sufferers of these diseases in contact with each other so they can find community. It can be pretty lonely if you literally cannot be face to face with someone without risking death.
She needs regular plasma infusions in order to improve her quality of life and get some level of protection against instant death, and so she also regularly fundraises for various plasma nonprofits and encourages her viewers to donate plasma.
It’s all very sweet… But given the medical system in the US and the current admin, this places her and anyone else that vulnerable in an incredibly difficult spot. As far as refunding… No. Those nonprofits would now need far more grassroots funding not less. It’s not like there’s an alternative.
Oh sorry when I said “refunded” I meant for funding for the Immune Deficiency Foundation to start back up, not for money to be returned or anything like that.
That’s horrible, I didn’t know Trump was cutting off aid to that.
I don’t see the problem with the choice of Hasan as a guest, frankly. I mean, the show is literally called Trash Taste.
