Benito Mussolini, the deposed Italian fascist dictator, was summarily executed by an Italian partisan in the village of Giulino di Mezzegra in northern Italy on 28 April 1945, in the final days of World War II in Europe. The generally accepted version of events is that Mussolini was shot by Walter Audisio, a communist partisan. However, since the end of the war, the circumstances of Mussolini’s death, and the identity of his executioner, have been subjects of continuing dispute and controversy in Italy.

    Death Execution of Benito Mussolini [28 April 1945] Call it what is was. He didn’t die of natural causes. He was executed for his crimes and his body desecrated in public. Appropriately.

Even after three relists, I don’t see this discussion as having reached a consensus either for or against a move.

      Although the first sentence suggests it should actually be “Execution of Benito Mussolini”?

      This is part of a symmetrical pairing with Death of Adolf Hitler. Also, the basis of his death is disputed. Was it judicial execution, summary execution in the field, assassination, there’s even one allegation of suicide? it’s in the article. Finally, in my opinion, “Killing of…” is crude and unencyclopedic. It can work for some deaths but there is an undertow of something “unlawful”. That’s a value judgment that’s out of place for Mussolini. It’s too complex to pointlessly mess around with the perfectly acceptable and “broad church” scope of “Death of…”.

      i think that we shouldn’t editorialize article titles. If you’re not happy with the title, you should join the conversation on the talk page and convince people to change the name of the article.

      Yeah. I searched for that originally but that’s what wikipedia titled it. I was on the fence about editorializing it on this post but you gave me the nudge I needed.
