Share this post from the Catholic Conference. This is as bad as posting a picture of himself as King after Great Britain ‘s Queen Elizabeth passed away. This is completely unacceptable and unhinged.

Really? Some Catholics maybe—ones from Florida or Catholics with Hispanic or Cuban backgrounds. Catholics have certain reputations and stereotypes but they aren’t evangelical. Most Catholics aren’t like Alito or Amy Barret either.

Catholics historically were a blue voting bloc. All the Irish and Roman Catholics I know in the North East to New England are staunchly against Trump. They think evangelicals are odd and know Trump isn’t a holy man. Even the Catholics I know who practiced the rhythm method hate Trump’s guts.

    Has this changed significantly?

Oh that’s really scary—thanks for sharing that information. That’s what I was looking for and you’ve been helpful. I wouldn’t be surprised if that shift was also encouraged by the Greatest Generation and the Guilded Generation finally truly dying off — they were more the staunch blue Catholics of stereotype.

Trump has inspired large portions of voters that don’t agree with his actual values by “flooding the swamp” with “doublespeak”. So he “aligns” with whatever your local propagandists convince you he aligns with, despite any true policy he may or may not have (as it appears he takes the approach of supporting “whatever works” towards his desired authoritarian regime). Catholics are not immune to this strategy, and it has historically paid off very well for him.

Catholics are, in general, anti abortion. It’s the reason the Christian base supports Trump despite Trump being the least Christian president ever.
