The short version is the latest proposed addition to regulations was tossed. We are still, in theory, with the same salmonella regulations we’ve had since 2016.

There seems to be a little churn of FB-ish easy share items that aren’t quite right.
And lemmy eats it up with zero critical thinking or research. Just like good little conservatives. Thank you for your service!
Just because it’s new doesn’t mean it’s not needed.
TL;DR:
The Trump administration scrapped a Biden-era plan that would have forced poultry companies to limit salmonella levels in raw chicken and turkey—a move meant to prevent food poisoning.
Another rule delaying stricter salmonella checks on frozen breaded chicken (like cordon bleu) was also pushed back.

To all my fellow Americans, it is time to go back to the days when America was “great” and start sustenance farming again. Raise your own chickens (all you really need is a small coop, lawn and some fencing) or other livestock if you have room. Start a small backyard garden and start growing your own fresh produce. These large companies have been and are going to start selling us absolute trash in the form of food, and it looks like our government is taking a back seat (or even worse, helping the whole thing along) to the problem so we as consumers have to rise up and push back. If we all start now, we can have these fuckers out of business by next year.
Agreed. I live in an eclectic urban area and plenty of folks keep chickens in their small backyards. It’s sort of hilarious to see social media posts of “One of my chickens escaped” and another further down “Yo whose chicken is this in my yard?” Folks always come together to share eggs during shortages. We need more of that.
I always assume that any meat I buy contains harmful bacteria. A quality meat thermometer is a must. I’m more concerned about harmful bacteria on things that aren’t cooked. Cooking to 165 degrees Fahrenheit (74 C) kills salmonella. You might also want to pasteurize your eggs if you’re going to eat them raw.

Make salmonella come back again.
Oh noooo, now people might think twice before eating a literal rotting carcass
