The countdown has begun. On 14 October 2025, Microsoft will end support for Windows 10. This will leave millions of users and organisations with a difficult choice: should they upgrade to Windows 11, or completely rethink their work environment?

The good news? You don’t have to follow Microsoft’s upgrade path. There is a better option that puts control back in the hands of users, institutions, and public bodies: Linux and LibreOffice. Together, these two programmes offer a powerful, privacy-friendly and future-proof alternative to the Windows + Microsoft 365 ecosystem.

The move to Windows 11 isn’t just about security updates. It increases dependence on Microsoft through aggressive cloud integration, forcing users to adopt Microsoft accounts and services. It also leads to higher costs due to subscription and licensing models, and reduces control over how your computer works and how your data is managed. Furthermore, new hardware requirements will render millions of perfectly good PCs obsolete.

This is a turning point. It is not just a milestone in a product’s life cycle. It is a crossroads.

I think I understand why you’re going on about this but it’s still very confusing.

You’re constantly contradicting yourself, one sentence after the other.

Of course windows is closed, the people you deem plebs will not go to massgrave. Windows is closed source software which has the customers data and hardware under control. if you argue that point you can also argue if the world is really round. it is just wasting my time.

Whatever “just works” for them is, is of no concern to me. I know that hundreds of people in my vicinity have adopted linux because it is better. You can now start more mental gymnastics but it still is only wasting time.

I have to remind you again, too: this is not the place to fight for windows or microsoft or any other capitalist hellscape. It is against the rules.

OP posts about windows EoL as a reason to switch to Linux. I reply that windows isn’t EoL as soon as OP thought. I’m fighting for windows? News to me. Switch to Linux, don’t switch. I don’t care, because it’s a personal preference, not a club with you gate keeping… Maybe some people who read your post will worry they only have months, when they have more than five years.

And yes, the world is round. Feel free to argue about the firmament over your head and that Antarctica doesn’t experience constant sunlight in summer. I won’t hear you. Have a great day. Laaaater.

OP has made a post about linux as a way to get away from a capitalist hellscape corporation. You arguing against that may be technically correct but makes no sense in this community.

        Formal warning.
