The 15 metres wide battery can store a month's heat demand in summer - how does it work?

Why can’t we do something like this, surely sand is something we have a ton of

    So, over in Perth, i assume its the same across the country, we have these big bridges over freeways and highways, theres probably hundreds of them throughout the whole city. Theres massive piles of sand inside each side of each bridge.

    So if the Polar Night Energy heat energy storage technology can be retrospectively fitted to these, thats potentially hundreds of heat storage batteries spread out across the road network just sitting there ready to use.
