    To clarify, btw, gutting medicaid still doesn’t give them enough to reverse the deficit increase caused by his tax cuts. The only way to balance the budget is to

    a) tax the rich

    or

    b) to cut some combination of Military, Medicare, and Social Security.

      That’s the point. They can’t ever possibly fill the hole because they keep digging it deeper. It’s bottomless at this point until tax revenue dries up because we all died.

      Tldr: gop + starve the beast/regulatory capture + the entire us government

      We don’t need to balance the budget anually. It needs to be in balance within the cycle which is typically much longer than a year.

        I just don’t see it happening at all without military, tbh. Republicans probably don’t even care about deficit.

        A couple billion seems pretty pointless, and Trump already undid a lot of the land protections from the Biden era, so if that were the play they certainly didn’t hold out for good offers.
