A tweet saying “Six Male Personalities Of Modern Men Explained: (which one are you?) Read the thread. " It has a picture of some of these, the first one is “alpha male”.It has a cartoonish picture of a guy in a suit. The next is “Beta male”. This shows a person wearing a blazer, with a sneer on their face. The one after this is “Delta Male”. This shows a guy in a plain white t-shirt. Next is a “Gamma male” It shows a guy in a red-and-black striped tshirt, with long hair. The next one is an “Omega Male” It shows a person with short black hair, glasses and suspenders.” The last one is a “Sigma male” It shows a guy with sunglasses and a leather jacket."
How do you pronounce Van Gogh?
Van Go (beep beep)
Fun Goth
doesn’t beat w.e.b. dubois
That’s a weird way to pronounce Van Gogh. 😉
thanks to the comment, i now know it’s van HHOHH or however it should be phonetically spelled. and no, i had never heard it said by a native prior to that
now i’ll be that annoying ackckshuallyyy dweeb that corrects people
I recently watched the documentary Van Gogh by Vincent, which narrates his development as an artist by using his own self-portraits. Hearing the way the speakers pronounce his name is now cemented in my mind. Honestly it still feels weird, but I’ll get used to it.
if you enjoy art documentaries, check out tim’s vermeer, about a random rich dude who hypothesized vermeer’s method of painting using mirrors, then painted a near perfect duplicate of a vermeer using the method, having never been a painter before
Ooh, it’s directed by Teller and produced by Penn Jillette, too? It’s gotta be good.
Thank you for the recommendation!
i don’t watch art docus but i enjoyed it. definitely worth the hour it takes to watch
If you don’t watch Doctor Who, and even if you do, Vincent and the Doctor is the best season 5 episode (no spoilers for the larger series arcs).
And that’s when I started questioning how I pronounce Van Gogh (I’m American, so I say Go with the long ō).
Just call him Doctor and he’ll be happy
“Vuhn Gerdge”
