Not countrywide, but in Philadelphia, PA, USA, there is a city-worker strike and there is now trash everywhere. The mayor defended her proposal to the union and said “If this means I’m gonna be a one-term mayor, so be it”. Wow what a great mayor (sarcasm). Defending the decision to pay people less? Lolol. Could’ve said “budget issues” or whatever… but wtf is this “idc if I lose the next election” attitude? Fuck this shit, primary them all.

We could’ve had a progressive, but instead, the two progressives split the primary vote and this centrist/conservative democrat got nominated and elected. What a shitshow lmfao.

Also she said she opposed stop and frisk, but then when she ran for mayor, she said she support stop and frisk to lower crime…

Um… okay Mayor “Flip-Flop I can’t decide my political positions” Parker. Lol

Anyways, this is just city drama, hopefully this isn’t too political for this comm.

Brazil: the big retirement fund steal (Fraude do INSS) and how the govt is acting to try and give the old people their money back.

In an extremely predictable twist, the right-wing is doing everything they can to paint the fraud solely as the current govt’s fault, despite them being in control from 2016-2022, years during which said fraud was already running.

No, Germany actually. Some 2m+ fish took objection to people swimming in the lake, and caused serious bite injuries. The fish was shot by the police who had arrived to help when it got close to other people who were just leaving the water.

I was (half) expecting to be able to tease you but, well, that’s not funny, my bad. I hope there was nothing that serious as far as the bites were concerned.

Was the heat much higher than it usually is? Could that explain the resistivity of the fish? I’ve often wondered how the extreme heat waves would impact animals around us.

Political scandal involving our current prime minister and his funding sources, that seem like cutbacks or getting paid for money laundering.
