As far as I know, this is the only tickling and tickle fetish related community in the entire threadiverse (apart from the furry one over at pawb.social), and I can’t be the only one wishing it was more active. Hence here are some suggestions for making this place more appealing to post in:
Add an icon and banner image
Any suggestions? Honestly, almost anything would be better than having no icon or banner at all.
Set up a proper sidebar and rules
Right now, it just says “Female focused tickling”
First of all, I’d suggest opening the community to all genders. I understand some might not like this idea, but the reality is that there simply aren’t enough users in the threadiverse yet for this kind of community to work well if it’s limited to one gender.
I don’t think we need any complicated rules, but the sidebar should clearly explain what kinds of posts are allowed and desired. For example: should we allow text only discussion posts? What about drawings/art, or should posts be limited to IRL media? Personally, I’d suggest allowing pretty much anything (within the instance rules ofc) as long as tickling is the main focus. Full nudity without a clear tickling focus and partner seeking should be directed elsewhere, maybe?
Anyone have any thoughts?
@postal11@lemmynsfw.com, you’re the only one with the moderator access. Are you still active?
(Looking at their profile, they haven’t posted anything in a while. If we don’t get a response from them, someone should request access to this community in /c/community_requests@lemmynsfw.com. I’m happy to do it but if someone else wants to, that’s fine too.)

Just an update: I was given moderation rights to this community, and I started by updating the sidebar a bit. I didn’t put too much thought into it tho, so suggestions are still more than welcome!
The sidebar looks great, but maybe something less obviously NSFW could be better. Or is it just me?
Since the community is hosted on lemmynsfw.com, it’s kinda NSFW by default, I think. While tickling isn’t always sexual, it’s not something I’d ever talk about at work, either. But obviously SFW posts are more than welcome and not discouraged. If you have any ideas on how to make that clearer in the sidebar, please let me know :)
That wasn’t about making it clear or not (I wouldn’t have felt out of place posting SFW content anyway), but more about making sure our page doesn’t immediately repel the non-sexual part of our potential audience (of which I kinda am, but that’s not my point) : we’re not a big enough community to allow ourselves to segregate, I’d say. But then I might be wrong. As you said, this is lemmynsfw, and I perfectly expect to have NSFW content within this community’s posts. But I suppose the less NSFW inclined visitors would set their Lemmy settings to something like “hide/blur NSFW”. Our sidebar isn’t going to be blurred to them, and I’d rather have it show something more casual, with less skin (though a little is always ok), maybe something cartoony?
I’m just throwing ideas, sorry if that comes as offensive or anything :/
Thank you for the feedback. It’s not offensive at all :)
I think I get what you’re saying. Honestly, the current banner image is just something I quickly stole from the Internet, and I think we ought to change it anyway. I did make sure to pick something without nudity for exactly the reasons you mentioned, but you’re absolutely right, something even more casual could be better.
I’m a little hesitant to use something cartoony since that kind of media isn’t always well-received on lemmyNSFW. But feel free to suggest ideas!
Another option would be to not have a banner image at all. The largest tickling subreddit on Reddit (/r/tickling) doesn’t have one for example.
