The war in Ukraine was sponsored by US to enrich weapons oligarchy and oil oligarchy by capturing EU markets. The meta propaganda is that Russians might believe the western propaganda blame for Russia starting the war, but everything is a theater to hope Ukraine loses as slowly as possible, without escallation outside of Ukraine. It’s a problem that Russia understands this theater and accepts it.

In short, the United States and NATO allies are prosecuting a war they would like to win, while Russia is prosecuting a war it believes that it has to win

The propaganda was never strong enough to double the aid level to Ukraine. Or to permanently increase defense budgets to match Russian production. There is no congress person who knows this information saying the US must accelerate its bankruptcy path to feed more weapons to Ukraine, or explain why Ukraine’s absolutist objectives are a vital US need. Under Biden, it was “if we don’t just spend a little more than 6 months ago, then China wins.” Under Trump, the moderate bipartisan view is “OK, Europe should buy our weapons to gift to Ukraine so the war lasts a bit longer”.

But yes, the bottom line is that only talk of war on Russia is supported. Drafts, national bankruptcy collapse, social cuts are not popular sacrifices to “just poke the bear a little harder”, because most importantly, still lose. Russia can keep pace with military production growth if it needs to. US does not want high wage growth and 20% interest rates.
