Hello! Basically as the title says. If there’s a community I’m part of that seems to have fallen foul of the “everyone got excited about a month ago, set up communities, then left” phenomenon, is there a process for getting more mods assigned to it so things can be dealt with until the owner hopefully returns?

Apologies if this is already written down somewhere, I did search first but it’s early morning and I am not at my smartest!

Any advice very much appreciated.

Yep. Admins can appoint and remove mods for communities that are based on their instances.

If you’re interested in taking over a non moderated community on Blahaj Lemmy, send me the details and I’ll see what we can do

There’s no formal process, but basically, I’ll need to be able to see that you’re active in the sub in question, that you’ve got an existing good faith and inclusive posting history, and that the moderator is genuinely inactive. If they haven’t posted recently, I’ll DM them and give them 48 hours to reply

Thanks, I didn’t want to go pestering individual admins if there was a form somewhere or a support community I’d missed so wanted to check first! Appreciate the help :)

Don’t know of a formal process yet, but an informal process may be possible. Contacting the current moderator or instance admin, many instance admins have their matrix accounts listed as well which may help with contacting them.
