Ok now I’m low key panicking a bit… I’ll be working Monday and Tuesday, and possibly Wednesday for a time. Got to wrap gifts this weekend and prepare foods as much as possible. The family had a vote and apparently unanimously voted for my Basque cheesecake as the Christmas dessert instead of pudding or other traditional stuffs 🤔

Hun, listen, you are not a machine. You can only do so much. I understand you want to please everyone but you need to pull back sometimes so you don’t burn out. Prioritise your tasks. Make it easier for YOU. Your family will not hate you if you don’t give them a cheesecake for Christmas.

Ps. Get the mini peelers to make a chocolate ripple cake instead. Much easier and they get to decorate it.

      Much love ❤️

what a shit day, trains did not help

going into city, meth head at station playing chicken with jumping off the platform, super high scary, I called security

coming home, trains cancelled because thieves stole the copper wiring of the signally system , took an extra hour

shops I wanted to go to were closed 🙄

At least dinner was good. Shout out to Green Fields Vietnamese on Sydney Road

They sell the copper for cash. It’s not the first time the wiring was stolen from this area’s train line either. There are a few kms where the train line goes thru parkland and industry that are basically so remote thieves can steal with little chance of detection

What did I get? Some rice paper spring rolls with mint and tofu, sweet sour chicken, special fried rice, green curry. It should last a few days. 🙂

I didn’t get thrown off for being underage. Did anyone not survive the new regulations? I sent this to the mods:

    working in retail

First of all, fuck the Christmas music.

Secondly, no, we don’t have insert item that sold out weeks ago. We have at least five signs indicating what we are sold out of so we don’t waste our breath. The orders we are getting are never-ending, but that means more money on wages so yay for me I guess.

I love how people are wearing Christmas attire. I saw someone dressed in a Christmas tree shaped dress and someone in a sparkly glittery Christmas dress which was so cool.

Manager asked me to look in someone’s bag as I was the door bitch for a bit. A team member said he put something in his pocket. I asked the customer if I could check his bag (of course he’s gonna say no) and he said,

“There’s crack in there. I’m not showing you that. I suppose you don’t smoke crack?”

I died laughing and let him go. The manager told me I should’ve said that I might not be able to check his bag or his pockets but the cops can. I believe in human decency and setting high expectations, but I don’t give a shit anymore. Between this guy, and the people who complain to me about bag checks or having to serve themselves or the queues makes me not want to go into the classroom because I feel helpless and like a pushover. Getting paid 35 an hour for this shit with next to no training on what to say or do when someone steals is not worth it. Even if I tell them to leave something in the store, no one takes me seriously. I’m just a girl. I’ll just continue being nice to people and remember the hundreds of pleasant interactions I will have this week.

    Dream:

I’m a killer for my crime family. I run into our competitors killer (who is also my ex) and she tells me she’s dying from an injury I gave her a long time ago.

Once our guard is down we have a genuine conversation. She tells me it’s a matter of days now till she’s gone and I promise to stay with her until the end.

I go and tell my family, and they’re overjoyed that she’ll be dead soon.

    I’m miserable about it.

I go and spend her last days with her.

We connect on a deep level, and I’m really torn up that she won’t be around much longer.

She dies and I wake up.

Enlisted a friend to help move some junk from my sunroom as part of a Christmas clean up. It’s so much nicer now. Rest of the apartment is trashed but I think that might be tomorrows problem. Am tired

So I have incredibly bad posture and weak muscles. I’ve been to the gym on-and-off. I’m thinking of rejoining, but then I am also considering just running and maybe pilates if it doesn’t cost a bomb. The latter activities don’t really focus on muscle building the way the gym does though.

Has anyone here gone from being very weak and a hunchback to the hulk?

Pilates with a physio was surprisingly effective if slow (noodle person). I lost it all over the time we don’t talk about and can’t really regain but it’s worth a try if you can afford it or get it covered.

I am currently in peak hunchback phase but previously I’ve done well with both gym (super simple jog + upper back and shoulder machines) and yoga. Yoga I like because it builds strength but if taught well also helps your nervous system so you aren’t holding on so tight. I’ve not been back to a studio since they all got so expensive after COVID but there’s good YouTube stuff. Yoga with Adrienne is probably the most popular absolute basics and she usually has a 30 day challenge in Jan.

      Edit for spelling

Some years ago, I did Pilates once a week. It was great for tone and flexibility. I don’t know if it specifically helps with posture, but you know that wobbliness that you can get trying to do a slow controlled movement? Its good for that kind of stuff. It does take time and consistency though, not a quick fix. A lot of posture problems can come from lack of core strength, both Pilates and yoga would be good if that’s where the issue is.

If you’re interested, tai chi has balance exercises. Can’t find videos of the drills I used to do.

The warmups or dao yin/qi gong are good for strengthening, movement control and opening up a slouched posture.

I wish I was able to go back to lessons

Edit: Also maybe make sure you don’t actually have mild scoliosis that never got diagnosed, because a couple of people I know turned out to

I will write this all down and look into it, thank you so much again for sharing. I do wonder if I have mild scoliosis. I think my sister does.

yes, the gym is great as you have a coach/instructor

I suggest getting a gym buddy , they help you with getting exercises right and with motivation

also having a regular habit helps

Just heard Jathan Sadowski on an episode of Download This Show. I never thought I’d hear him on there. I was a little concerned when Rae Johnston was going to take over from Marc Fennel but she’s doing a great job and is bringing more tech skepticism to the show than Marc’s intended neutral tech news premise
