Hi all! As a queer demisexual person, I find myself getting really frustrated at even the thought of dating in this age of social upheaval, extreme individualism and hookup culture.
For those of us who have had some good dating experiences lately, what are some strategies that have worked well for you?
I’ve never dated (nor am looking), but I have a friend who is demi. The only advice I could give based on them is that they found a partner by just doing clubs and events (we’re college students), mainly the queer club we’re all in. They entered with the intention of just making friends and then found a partner 😊
So if you know of any fun queer focused events nearby you maybe try that? Far easier to find like minded people that you can start slow with and build a friendship. If you can’t find a queer focused group maybe just find a local hobby group (painting, gardening, etc.)
I feel bad, because I understand the Demi part makes it harder to get a partner, since so many people like one night stands. But I hope you find someone!
Good suggestions, thanks!
I also find it really difficult to find local hobby groups outside of uni. There’s not much clubs out there and when they do, it’s often a group that are already tight knitted. I’ve seen professional hobbies groups as well, but they cost a ton (something like $30-40 per art session) & hosts sessions in different areas of the city/park/forest, which renders them really inaccessible. Curious to hear if others also have similar troubles
