I have a lot of friends who were infatuated with Rockhill because he is an expert in critical theory and active within the French academy who also unflaggingly attacks it all as a way to defend actually existing socialist states. I don’t mind that, but I started reading this book and it is a little bit conspiratorial for me. For example a lot of supposed causal relationships around characters like Adorno and US Empire that I would argue are more like elective affinities (to use the term from Weber-someone Rockhill probably also hates).
Anyone else reading this book?
