Tow operator decided to hook onto the tie rods. As per BMW, any damage to the tie rods requires steering rack replacement. That’s a $13,000 mistake he likely won’t make again. Ya right, they will definitely do it again.

It’s arguably harder to hook a suspension component at least from my perspective as someone who’s never towed. Still happens. “These fancy euro cars”. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Is there tow operator malpractice insurance? No clue how this gets paid for. What an annoying thing to have happen.
Doubt they would use it on something this cheap. Probably save it for something like dropping a Ferrari off the back on the highway and it causes a 12 car pileup.
