I only vaguely remember this one, but do recall that it was huge, back in the day. In the States, I don’t think there’d ever before been a film that really, truly addressed what fallout from nuclear war would be like, and even that was heavily toned down.
Also interesting in that the president and joint chiefs of staff screened the film ahead of time and were evidently significantly moved.
Been meaning to watch this for ages. Feels like a natural companion to Threads and The War Game, two British takes on the same idea (and both highly recommended).
Just rewatched this a couple of weeks ago. Rough movie, very heavy.
