The browser’s job is to serve you, not to think for you. That core Waterfox principle hasn’t changed, and it won’t.

Waterfox exists because some users want a browser that simply works well at being a browser. The UI is mature - arguably, it has been a solved for problem for years. The customisation features are available and apparent. The focus is on performance and web standards.

Waterfox will not include LLMs. Full stop. At least and most definitely not in their current form or for the foreseeable future.

That is why Waterfox has become my default browser for probably a little over a year now… after having been using FF for all my online life, since it was still called Mosaic and I watched in awe my very first webpage slowly appear on my screen, through my then speedy 14.4K dialup.

I’m not hostile to AI per se. I’m hostile to how AI is being force-fed everywhere and how it’s being… controlled by a handful of corps. AI could one day be an amazing tool, provided it was served and controlled right, meaning outside of the control of those handful corps. So far, that is not the case and therefore I wish my browser to remain AI-free for the time being.
