My biggest colony so far. I tried to move away from the usual square/boxy layouts and instead build more organically, almost like a city builder. The idea was to let the colony grow naturally over time rather than planning everything in a grid from the start.
The map itself was pretty challenging to work with since it’s split by multiple rivers, so a lot of the layout came down to adapting as I expanded. It definitely made planning harder, but also way more fun. Pretty happy with how it turned out in the end.

This is without a doubt my favorite looking Rimworld base I’ve seen. Your throne room and anomaly room look especially good. Did you move the anima tree there, or did you build the garden and throne around it?
I also really like your use of stairs to make some rooms look less flat. What mod are they from, and are they just visual or do they slow pawns down or anything? I’d like to try adding them to my own bases at some point.
Thank you, I really appreciate it! Yeah, I used a mod that lets you replant special trees, including the anima tree. As for the stairs, they’re from Simple Stairs and they’re purely visual structure. So no movement penalty or anything.
Whoa, I really love the look of this map! What mods gave you the size and interesting geography here?
Thank you. The map was generated using Map Designer first, then i hand painted the rest using devmode
This is awesome, I can’t imagine what a raid is like on this masterpiece
I once had a mech cluster drop right in the middle of my southern district because the game couldn’t find a valid spawn spot 😅
