I’m looking for a nice, one night project for a stem youth group I work with and the Cataractapult would be a nice change of pace. But…
- I don’t support his politics or views.
- 15 USD a piece is too expensive for just bare pcbs.
- They aren’t available anymore anyway.
If I had the files, I could just get a small pile of them made, have one for every kid and have enough left over for the club sell for fund raising.

you could probably copy such pcb in kicad pretty quickly anyway just by looking at it, or even better with easier and more practical method and material for this job.
take a peek at thingiverse and you could probably find something cool you can get 3d printed for less than custom pcbs would cost you.
My plan B is to make the copy myself, but I’ll need to learn kicad to do it.
And part of the goal of this is to do a soldering exercise of some sort. We’ve been doing working with an Elegoo kit for the past few months, which is screw assembly and software. I try and keep things varied in the club.

- “I do not wish to pay what is a reasonable price for a bare pcb if bought from anywhere but china”
- “can you guys help me steal the design from him so that he cannot profit from his work and effort?”

I’m asking if anyone knows if there are clone pcbs anywhere.
Also, $15 is not a reasonable price for a single ~8cm by ~8cm pcb anywhere. The youth group has around 20 kids in it. I’m not pulling $300 from the club funds for something like this.
Also, how is it stealing if he’s not producing them anymore anyway? I thought his politics were known by now anyway, but I dropped him when he did his little Pro “Freedom Convey” video towards the end of Covid. I later found out he taught his daughter racial slurs.
