Explanation: Both Carthage in the Second Punic War, and the Japanese Empire in WW2, attempted to defeat their enemy by stunning military victories, rather than achieving the political goals the war was started over, or destroying the enemy’s capacity to continue waging war.
Neither won their war.
… confused process and goal a bit there, I think.
