Baggage fees increase relentlessly. Use jacket luggage. They can weigh your bags, but not your clothes.
Airlines have started removing all free luggage options. Often you don’t even get a carry-on anymore, or no access to overhead storage without paying for it. They’re doing their absolute best to make your flying experience as miserable as possible.
They want to extract every cent possible, the misery is an avoidable consequence.
The article states airlines say new prices are now necessary because fuel is so expensive, but they’ve made plenty of baggage price hikes during recent peacetime years.
pack-it jacket!
The higher luggage fees is how they hide the true cost of the flights. Instead of raising ticket prices (well they still raise prices, but less than otherwise,) they reduce the quality of the service and make you pay more to get what you used to get included.
The restricted amenities have gotten ridiculous(and maybe illegal) at Spirit, where you are forced to dump out your water before entering the plane and no free water is offered on 8-hour flights. That’s banananas.
