Several of these I think are a stretch to call suspicious. ‘61 year old man dies’ and ‘hiker disappears’ are things that happen every day, even with people nearby. The inclusion of people who were retired when they died or disappeared is also weak evidence to me, since the implication is that this is being done to harm US scientific capability and retired people aren’t the main movers there. Given the original quoted source is the Daily Mail I question whether ‘no cause of death was given’ means they contacted the county for death records and they had no info on cause of death, or if they just read obituaries that didn’t list a cause of death (very common).
If these are unusual numbers for the amount of people NASA has hired (active and former) it should be looked into, but without further evidence it’s shaky to me.
I totally agree with your central point, but I have to say that the hiker one is weird. I worked with Monica for decades. She was with other people, for some reason they decided to separate, but still on the same path. They never saw her again. Shortly thereafter, there was a long search and rescue mission and they never found a sign of her. Never a body or signs of a struggle or anything.
Very nice, very smart woman.
I’m sorry for your loss, it must be rough to have a colleague disappear like that and still not have answers. What makes me still think it was a genuine accident is that her story is very similar to many stories from hikers who have nearly died (or did die) on a hike. You can be with a group, in a popular area, etc, but if you get turned around or walk off the trail people can miss you (or your corpse) for literal decades. I think it was just a few years ago that they found a skeleton in Griffith Park (Los Angeles) right off a trail, nobody had seen the person fall or the body for years.
I’m not ruling out foul play, I just also know even experienced hikers can fall prey to stuff like this.
I hear what you’re saying. Monica wasn’t the sort to do dumb stuff, and the story of one of the guys she was with seemed weird. I actually do suspect hers was foul play, but I don’t think it was part of any conspiracy thing; it’s more likely it was a relationship thing.
Yeah, this is my take too.
Weird
