Hello all. I just recently got a cat from a friend. This cat belonged to a guy who owns a mechanic shop. The cat basically lived in the shop. I was planning on adopting a cat from a shelter, but when I heard about this one, I felt so bad for him. This cat has half of his tail missing (no one knows what happened to him.) He also has scratch marks on his nose. I felt so bad about his situation, I took him in. I was told he was taken to the vet recently and is neutered and vaccinated. I have had the cat for 10 days now. For most of those days, this cat has been scratching non stop. The backs of his ears are scabbed, patches of fur pulled out. I applied a flea treatment on him almost a week ago, and he continues to scratch. His fur is everywhere. I can’t handle this, nor can I afford a vet right now. I live in Monroe TWP (central NJ) and I can’t find any rescues/shelters near me who will take him. I want him to find a home. The guy I got him from won’t take him back. What should I do?
